Inauguration Request

The 60th Presidential Inauguration will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025. While we await further guidance from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), our office is accepting ticket requests from Maryland constituents interested in attending the Inauguration ceremonies; however, we do not have details and cannot yet confirm the ability to fulfill any requests. Please note that we cannot confirm any ticket requests at this time.

The Inauguration Ceremonies include the swearing-in of the President-elect and Vice President-elect and the Inaugural address by the President. The JCCIC is responsible for planning and carrying out the ceremonies. Visit the JCCIC website for more information.

At this time, the JCCIC has not informed Senate offices of how many tickets they will be allotted or when they will become available to offices. Senator Van Hollen’s office will notify registrants of ticket availability by email once we receive information from the JCCIC. At this time, we do not expect to receive further details until January 2025.

Please note that a Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC), organized following the November election, will be responsible for other official Inaugural events, including the Inaugural Parade and any official Inaugural balls and galas. Tickets to the Inaugural Parade and official Inaugural balls will be handled by the PIC. Constituents interested in participating in the Inaugural Parade can find more information and apply here.

Can I request tickets from Senator Van Hollen’s office if I am not a Maryland resident?

Our office cannot accommodate requests from individuals who are not Maryland residents. Individuals from other states should contact their home state senators with their request.

I submitted my request. When can I expect to hear back from the office?

After submitting the ticket request form, constituents will receive an email confirming that they have been added to the waitlist. As noted above, we do not expect to know how many tickets we will have and make plans for distribution until January 2025.
Once we receive details from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), we will send individuals updates. Submitting multiple requests or follow up emails does not increase your likelihood of receiving tickets.

What do these tickets give us access to?

Historically, the tickets given to Senate offices are standing room only and include access to the swearing-in ceremony and Inauguration Address on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. The tickets do not include access to inaugural balls, the Inaugural Parade, or other events.

How do I get the tickets if my request is approved?

Additional instructions on how to retrieve tickets will be shared directly with those who secure tickets with our office.

I can no longer attend the inauguration. How do I cancel?

You can cancel your request by emailing tours@vanhollen.senate.gov
