Grant: $300,000 for Tipton Airport in Fort Meade

About The Event

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (both D-Md.) have announced $300,000 in funding for Tipton Airport in Fort Meade, Maryland. The Department of Transportation (DOT) grant will be used to design new space for aircraft parking and storage, expanding the airport’s capacity.

“These funds are a federal investment in Anne Arundel County, and all the businesses and residents who depend on our regional airports for trade and transportation,” said Senator Cardin, Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee. “Ensuring our local airports are safe and able to meet demand is critical to keeping our economy moving. I will continue working hard to ensure all our regional airports have the resources they need.”

“Tipton Airport serves as an important resource to Anne Arundel County – this investment will help the airport improve operations and continue serving the surrounding community,” said Senator Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committees. “Supporting Maryland’s economy means investing in local transportation hubs. I will continue fighting for the resources our state needs to improve our infrastructure and grow our economy.”

This DOT grant will be awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. The program funds various types of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, airport signage, lighting and markings, all helping to create thousands of local jobs.
