Maryland Congressional Delegation Announces $4 Million for Reproductive Health Care and Family Planning Services in Underserved Communities
U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Anthony G. Brown, Jamie Raskin and David Trone (all D-Md.) today announced $4 million in federal funding to provide reproductive health care and family planning services to Maryland families in underserved communities. Funding comes from the Title X Family Planning Program, administered by the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“Safe and affordable health care is a basic human right,” the lawmakers said. “This new federal funding will expand access to preventive care, cancer screenings, reproductive health care, and more services in communities across our state. We will continue fighting to secure additional funding for family planning, and we will work tirelessly to protect women’s rights.”
Title X Family Planning Program offers information on fertility, cancer screenings, and contraception. More information on the reproductive health services and resources provided by OPA can be found here.
