Maryland Congressional Delegation Members, State Officials Express Continued Support for Purple Line
Members of the Maryland congressional delegation, including U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, John P. Sarbanes, Anthony G. Brown, Jamie B. Raskin, David Trone and Kweisi Mfume, today released the following statement after a virtual meeting with officials from the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) on the Purple Line.
“The Purple Line has great potential to improve the quality of life of Marylanders and those who live and work in the Washington region. It will also drive continued economic development and job growth throughout our state. Today, Maryland state leaders expressed their commitment to finishing the Purple Line project, and we encouraged them to continue working diligently with partners to resolve cost disputes and delays to ensure construction moves forward without interruption. We also urge them to work with impacted communities along the route to minimize disruptions and address community priorities and concerns. The Maryland congressional delegation fully stands behind these efforts and the completion of the project.”
