Maryland Delegation Members Statement on Army Corps Permit for Francis Scott Key Bridge Reconstruction

Today, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks and U.S. Representatives Kweisi Mfume, Sarah Elfreth, and Johnny Olszewski (all D-Md.) released the following statement on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ permit granting the Maryland Transportation Authority permission for construction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge replacement:

“The Army Corps’ green light for construction marks another important hurdle cleared toward the replacement of the Key Bridge, less than a year since its tragic and shocking collapse. Following months of work as a united Team Maryland, we ensured our state has the federal resources necessary to rebuild cost-effectively and efficiently — and with a design plan in place, we will continue to support the work to secure the remaining approvals needed to begin construction. Baltimore and Maryland are on the path to recovering stronger than ever — for the good of all Marylanders and our economy.”
