Van Hollen, Cardin, Hoyer, Brown Statement on an Update on the Fully Consolidated FBI Headquarters

Today, the General Services Administration (GSA) announced that the decision on the selection of a site and developer for the new consolidated Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters would be postponed until the full funding of the project is provided by Congress. U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, along with Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), and Congressman Anthony Brown (MD-04) released the following statement in response to the announcement:

"We are disappointed that today's announcement from the General Services Administration does not include a site designation for the new, fully consolidated FBI headquarters. We recognize the urgent need to select a site, and are concerned that the continued delays will have a negative impact on the safety and security of our nation. Prince George's County is the best choice for the FBI, and we call on Congress to fully fund the FBI relocation project, which is not only important for the economic development of Prince George's County, but for the state of Maryland, and our nation as a whole."
