Van Hollen Meets with Biden OMB Nominee Neera Tanden

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), a member of the U.S. Senate Committees on Budget, Appropriations, and Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs released the following statement regarding his virtual meeting with Neera Tanden, President-elect Biden’s nominee to serve as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

“OMB needs a strong leader who understands the core of its mission – to ensure our government is best able to serve our constituents and to enact a federal budget that delivers real results for the American people. Neera Tanden has stood up for these values throughout her career, and she is deeply qualified to rebuild and lead an OMB that will once again focus on making the economy work for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected. During today’s conversation, Neera and I discussed the importance of these matters, and the urgent need for a robust economic agenda that allows us to build back better and invests in infrastructure, confronts climate change, and reemploys workers struggling with long-term unemployment. We also spoke about the need to meaningfully address fairness in the tax code so that we ensure the wealthiest households contribute more toward making the investments necessary to strengthen the economy for all. I know that, as the head of OMB, Neera will fight every day for greater prosperity for all.”
