Van Hollen Statement on Biden New Executive Actions to Tackle Climate Crisis

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement in support of President Biden’s new executive actions to address the climate crisis:

“We cannot wait to tackle the climate crisis. From the daily toll of flooding and severe weather on homeowners and small businesses to its larger impact on our environment, national security, and economic stability – it threatens our nation’s success across-the-board. This is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity to create new home grown, good-paying jobs and build a better, stronger economy. President Biden understands the urgency of this issue, and I’m glad to see him continuing to build on his day-one efforts to meet this crisis with sweeping action. We must step up our efforts at every level of government to combat climate change, and I will continue working in Congress to pass meaningful legislation on this front. For years I have introduced legislation to encourage more investment in clean energy through the establishment of a Green Bank/Clean Energy Accelerator and the adoption of a cap and dividend system. I’ll be pushing my colleagues to pass these bills and take action on the climate crisis. It’s past time for our nation to fight this crisis head-on and seize this opportunity to create new jobs, modernize our infrastructure, and strengthen our economy.”
