Van Hollen Statement on EPA Administrator Zeldin’s Dishonest Attack on Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund
Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement regarding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin’s attacks on the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), a program modeled on legislation authored by Senators Van Hollen and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) in partnership with Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.). The GGRF was established through the Inflation Reduction Act – and executed by the EPA under the Biden Administration.
“The GGRF spurs private investment to create jobs and strengthen our energy independence. It’s exactly the type of fiscally-responsible investment we should be making. Lee Zeldin’s attempts to misrepresent this initiative to the American people are at best plain wrong and at worst an effort at fear-mongering. Clawing back this investment would not only be plainly illegal it will also cost jobs and harm our communities. I will keep fighting in Congress and the courts to ensure the Administration complies with the law.”
