Van Hollen Statement on Francis Scott Key Bridge
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement on the Francis Scott Key Bridge:
“While the events of today are still unfolding, we know this is a terrible tragedy for our City and our State. I’m praying for those who were on the bridge, and I know there are urgent rescue efforts still underway. I’m thankful for the first responders and emergency crews who are at the scene and are working tirelessly on these efforts.
“I’m heading to Baltimore now and am closely monitoring the situation. I have been in touch with Governor Moore, Mayor Scott, County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Transportation Secretary Buttigieg, National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy, the Coast Guard, and other federal, state, and local partners.”
“We are quickly working to address this situation, and I know, as always, Baltimore will come together, united to face this tragedy.”
