Van Hollen Statement on ICE Detainment of Frederick County Resident, Roxana Orellana Santos

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen released the following statement regarding the detainment of  Roxana Orellana Santos.

“ICE’s decision to detain Ms. Santos is deeply disturbing – this mother of four fled violence in El Salvador seeking a safer life for herself and her family. Ms. Santos was arrested without just cause and has since been vindicated in a federal court case. Ms. Santos has routinely complied with ICE and is currently working through the system to obtain legal residency. This is a clear example of our broken immigration system, and I urge ICE to reconsider this very misguided decision.”
