Van Hollen Statement on Senate Action to Move Forward on Gun Safety Legislation
Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement regarding the Senate vote to proceed to consideration of bipartisan legislation addressing gun safety:
“Weeks ago I marched with our fellow Americans calling for gun safety reforms to save lives. This Senate bill is a small, but important step forward. We must build on this progress by growing the movement and winning the votes to enact comprehensive gun reform, including banning semi-automatic assault weapons and implementing universal background checks.”
