Van Hollen Statement on Supreme Court DACA Decision

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program and prevent the Trump Administration’s attempts to cancel the program.

For too long this Administration has wreaked havoc on DACA recipients and their families. This decision underscores what we have always known is true – the Trump Administration’s callous ploy to end the DACA program was arbitrary and flawed. It not only defies what a bipartisan majority of Americans want, but also the values that anchor our country. This decision is a crucial victory in our fight to protect DACA families and to support our immigrant communities during a time of unprecedented discrimination and vitriol, led by the President himself. We must move forward with permanent protections for Dreamers and TPS recipients– and pass the Dream and Promise Act now. We will not back off this fight.”
