Van Hollen Statement on the Retirement of Will Baker, President of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation

Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released the following statement regarding the retirement of Will Baker, President of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation:

"Will Baker has led the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for over three decades, championing the protection and preservation of the Bay and working tirelessly to improve its health. During his tenure, Will has worked to engage all the Bay stakeholders and fought hard to implement the historic Chesapeake Bay Agreement, which will have a lasting impact for generations to come.

"It has been a privilege to work with Will over the last thirty years, from my time in the General Assembly to now. I am grateful to have counted on Will as a partner in our many efforts – from fighting to prevent slant drilling in sensitive areas around the Bay, to pushing for increased federal funding for the Chesapeake Bay Program, to providing support for farmers to prevent agricultural runoff, and most recently, securing the enactment of the Chesapeake WILD Act.

"I congratulate my friend Will on his incredible years of service and thank him on behalf of all Marylanders for his tireless work on the front lines of the fight to combat climate change and to protect the resources we all cherish. His passion for the Bay and thoughtful stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation leaves both in a better place as he retires."
